Nitrous Oxide (Sweet Air)

Safe, gentle sedation that helps anxious patients and children feel calm and comfortable during dental procedures. Effects wear off quickly so you can resume your day.

Nitrous oxide gas—often called laughing gas or sweet air—is a safe, effective way to help you feel relaxed and at ease during dental treatment. Whether you feel nervous about dental visits or simply want a more comfortable experience, nitrous oxide can make your appointment easier.

How Nitrous Oxide Works

We place a comfortable mask over your nose and ask you to breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. Within 30 seconds to a few minutes, you'll begin to feel a pleasant sense of calm and relaxation. This gentle sedation continues throughout your procedure, helping you stay comfortable while we work.

When your treatment is complete, we give you pure oxygen to breathe for about five minutes. The effects of the nitrous oxide reverse completely, and you'll feel like yourself again—ready to drive home and go about your day.
